“KADEN” Baby Blanket

Our Kaden Baby Blanket design was knitted in King Cole Cherished DK yarn of which I chose black and white shades. This blanket will fit a pram, Moses basket or bedside crib. The needles needed are 3.5mm and 4mm.

Black and white is considered the best colour scheme for newborns because their developing eyes can most easily distinguish between high contrast colours like black and white, helping them focus and stimulate their visual development; essentially, they can see light and dark shades more clearly than a full colour spectrum at this stage.

Key points about using black and white for newborns:
Visual development:
A newborn’s eyes are still maturing, and high contrast patterns like black and white are easier to perceive, helping them develop their optic nerves and eye coordination.
Stimulation:
The sharp contrast between black and white provides visual stimulation, encouraging babies to focus and track objects.
Early learning:
Black and white patterns can be used in toys, mobiles, and even nursery decor to support early learning and cognitive development.

The Pattern is suitable for a beginner with some experience of combinations of knit and purl stitches.
